Kevin Ruane was elected to the Lee County Board of County Commissioners in 2020. Prior to joining the County Commission, Kevin served on the Sanibel City Council for 13 years, nearly 11 of which as Mayor.

Through the years Kevin has proven himself to be a fiscal and social conservative who utilizes his business experience as an accountant and business owner to keep spending low, reduce taxes, and hold the bureaucrats accountable.

Kevin has fought to reduce the size and scope of government to keep it out of the lives and pockets of Lee County residents and businesses.

Following Hurricane Ian, Kevin was appointed as Chairman of the Lee County Long Term Recovery Task Force where he is leading the efforts to rebuild and revitalize areas devastated by the storm and create the blueprint for a more sustainable community in the event of future storms.

Kevin attended undergraduate and graduate schools at Pace University with a concentration in accounting and taxation. He took over for his father at his family’s CPA firm, and his corporate career included various senior executive positions with a subsidiary of a Fortune 100 company.

In the private sector, Kevin is President and CEO of Castleton Capital, which provides financing to small businesses across the country. Kevin and his wife Doreen reside in Cape Coral and have two adult children: daughter Shannon and son Kevin Jr. all of whom work with him at Castleton.
